Most leading interior paint companies carry a nice selection of eco-friendly paints now, thanks to growing customer awareness and demand. So if you have a favorite, trusted brand, check with your local paint store on eco-friendly options for that brand.
When choosing paint, look for low- or zero-VOC (volatile organic compounds) options. This refers to the amount of ingredients, other than water, that evaporate over time. The VOCs found in paint can slowly leak chemicals in the air long after the paint has dried. Colorants can add some VOCs to paint, but both low- and zero-VOC paint are good options.
